12 Days of Gratitude | Day 5 Self Care & New Facial System Routine
I have been guilty of putting myself last, not taking care of myself the way I take care of others.
I am guilty of not feeling my best because I simply did have any gas left in the tank for myself. While I am not where I want to be, I am in no way as bad as I used to be. That’s because I began putting myself closer and closer to the start of the line a few years ago.
Today, married with 4 children and pregnant with 1 on the way I realize that I am only available for them if I show up for myself first. Having a self care plan that includes your mental, spiritually and physical state of mind is critical. Below I outline what I do to maintain my mental and spiritual balance and attached you’ll find a video where I discuss a aspect of my physical self care routine.
Spiritual
- Prayer. I pray all the time and its the lifeline in my relationship with Christ
- Read. I make the time to read my Bible as well as other spiritual literature that helps to shape my thoughts and perspectives.
- Devotion. Devotion in my home is a family event. We fellowship with each other and learn from one another. I also do a private devotion.
- Church. Attending church is very important. Currently, it’s difficult for me to attend but we do watch services from our church home online.
Mental
- I spend a lot of time speaking with old people. They have a wealth of experience and advice which helps me to sort though problems that appear to be a mountain because of my lack of life experience.
- I love to write and journal. It’s a very effective way for me to share my feelings without interruption.
- I spend a considerable amount of time alone with I need space to analyze my current situation.
- Read my Bible. I am a firm believer that there is nothing new under the sun, so if I’m experiencing something, it must have occurred in the Bible and that means, there is defiantly an answer.
Physical
In the attached video I discuss the self care plan I have designed for myself moving forward. While there is not much I can do physically while I am pregnant I do go into detail about a facial routine I really excited about.
I am so grateful that I am putting myself first on a regular basis, for me this is certainly an act of self love.
The 12 Days of Gratitude is a reflection of my level of gratitude to God for family, friends, customers and situations in my life. It is an opportunity for me to reflect, share and pray-fully encourage someone, somehow. The Fall is not only my favorite time of year, it is a time of huge celebration for my family encompassing birthdays, holidays and anniversaries. These 12 days is my opportunity to extend this celebratory spirit with you.
